About OEOM.
The name “Open Eyes Open Mind” comes from a tattoo that Christian and Trysten got years ago. This is their life motto. The expression is a reminder that to reach Self-Actualization, one must first walk a life with open eyes. This allows them to see all that is around them. Second, they must open their mind to critically think on what their eyes allow them to see and not to see.
This all began because a couple of buddies wanted to be a part of something bigger than themselves within the disc golf community. Christian and Trysten have been friends for several years. They have many similar interests, and when the pandemic hit in 2020 they found a love for the sport of disc golf. Both had played maybe a handful of times before March 2020. When all the craziness started to take place around the world due to COVID-19, Christian and Trysten were playing disc golf to pass the time due to having their hours cut from their day jobs. Both found an abundance of gratification from the sport. Christian and Trysten attended Oklahoma State University pursuing a degree in Psychology. Their background helped them to understand exactly how amazing this sport is. Disc golf has provided a form of meditation, conscious focus, vitamin D, and physical activity for those who seek it. This doesn’t just apply to those who picked up the sport due to COVID-19; it applies to each and every person who has made their way outside to throw some plastic.
With that, Christian and Trysten saw an opportunity to do something bigger than themselves. They saw a way to get involved in their community, create some truly unique products, and give back to the sport that changed their lives. This process would not be possible if it wasn’t for their buddy Curly. He is a graphic designer who has been looking for a way to get in on the ground floor of brand designing. In December 2020, Curly started playing disc golf and was instantly hooked. Christian and Trysten spoke to Curly about if he would be interested in being their sole designer. He was 100% on board, which led to the creation of Open Eyes Open Mind LLC (Also known as OEOM).
OEOM is aimed at providing products with truly unique hot-stamps on some of the most popular manufacturing molds out there. Our mission is to create discs that make you stand out. Additionally, we want to give back to our disc golf community by providing baskets to schools that do not have them and putting discs in the hands of those that cannot afford them.
“The future depends on what you do today.”
